Programmes available to clubs and counties

 Club Leadership Programme

A seminar to provide club officers with support and advice on how to best fulfil their roles on a committee in a Ladies Gaelic club. General information will be supplied on the Injury Fund Scheme, fundraising & code of ethics. Individual workshops will then take place on the role of the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, PRO.

Ready Steady Play

A volunteer recruitment programme aimed at increasing the number of “helpers” within the club, predominately in the area of coaching.

Who can avail of this programme: Every Ladies Gaelic Football Club

Duration: 2 ½ hours

Cost: Currently free to all clubs (venue cost is separate)

  FUNdamentals coaching course

This course comprises of 4 units: Unit 1: Good Coaching Practice, Unit 2: ABC’s of Gaelic Football, Unit 3: Group Management and Child Protection, Unit 4: Coaching a Session.

Who can avail of this programme: Any coach or anybody interested in getting involved in coaching 16 years and over

Duration: 6 Hours, completed in one day, may be split over two evenings if necessary

Cost: €520- 30 places on each course.  (venue cost and food is separate)

Level 1- Raising the bar

Comprises of 7 units over 22 hours: Unit 1: Player Pathway, Unit 2: Role of the Coach, Unit 3: Paper to Practice, Unit 4: Rules, Unit 5: Physical Fitness, Unit 6: Nutrition, Unit 7: Practical.

Who can avail of this programme:  Any coach over 18 yrs who has completed the FUNdamentals course and has at least 1 years coaching experience.

Duration: 22 hours (12 hours course work, 10 hours practical coaching in own club) over 2 days separated by 3-6 weeks.

Cost: €1100, 20 places, minimum 15. €70 per person. (venue cost and food is separate)

Grab your Whistle: Referee Development Programme

To recruit and train new referees in Connacht with a specific emphasis on females. On completion of the course the referee will be qualified to referee up to County U14 Level and all underage club depending on the age of the referee.

Who can avail of this programme: Course participants must be 18 years and over

Duration:  12 hour course over 3 days

Cost: €200 deposit refundable if over 12 people complete the course

Code of Ethics training

All officers and coaches involved with ladies teams especially underage teams (Under 18) are recommended to attend a course known as 4hr Basic Awareness Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport.

Who can avail of this programme: All coaches and individuals involved with underage teams

Duration: 4 hours, run over 2 nights or altogether

Cost: Varies among Local Sports Partnerships
