ST. FARNAN’S LADIES

The U-16’s were victorious over St. Nathy’s in the final round of the Div. 3 League on Tuesday last. As a result the team secured second place in the table and have qualified for the final of the competition where they will meet table toppers Geevagh, the only side to have beaten them in the group stages. This game is scheduled to take place on Tuesday May 22nd.

There was no joy for the Juniors in the ACL Shield Final on Sunday. Cloonacool was the venue with Curry providing the opposition. The side started positively and a Rachel O’Brien goal followed by points from Emer McHugh and Holly Davis saw them lead by 1-2 to no score after ten minutes. The South Sligo ladies then got into their stride and hit 2-4 without reply before Deborah Kelly got a point back to stem the tide but this was followed by a third Curry goal. We did have the final score of the half, a point from O’Brien, but were trailing by 3-4 to 1-4 at the sound of referee Pat Normanly’s half time whistle. A second goal from O’Brien shortly after the restart offered hope of a comeback but this was quickly cancelled out by a three pointer from Curry. The sides continued to exchange points for most of the remainder of the half but just as it seemed the opposition were going to see the game out comfortably a goal and a point from McHugh cut the deficit to four points with the game in stoppage time. A number of chances to snatch victory at the death came our way but the Curry net minder was in scintillating form helping her side to hang on for the win on a final scoreline of 4-9 to 3-8. Team: F.Mulligan, V.Mulligan, E.Kearins, R.McHugh, C.Dunne, D.Kilgannon,  G.Ruane, C.O’Reilly, H.Davis(0-1), E.McHugh,capt(1-4),  D.Kelly(0-1), C.McCloat, R.O’Brien(2-2). Good Luck to all involved.

Well done to all involved in the organising of the first Dromore West Darkness into Light walk which took place in the early hours of Saturday last. Over 500 people turned up to walk making the event a phenomenal success.

Sympathy is extended to the Broderick family, Ardydelly, the Tempany family, Grangebeg, and the McDermott family, Cartron, all of whom have suffered recent bereavements.
