TG4 confirms 5-year sponsorship and broadcast extension of Ladies Gaelic Football Championships
Landmark new agreement will bring TG4’s sponsorship and broadcast partnership with the LGFA through to the conclusion of the 2032 season
Tuesday 26 May 2026: TG4 and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association have today announced a landmark five-year extension to TG4’s sponsorship and broadcast commitment to the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships.
The announcement was made at today’s official launch of the 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships at Croke Park, as TG4 and the LGFA celebrate 25 years of partnership in 2026.
Under the new agreement, TG4 will continue as sponsor and broadcaster of the Ladies Gaelic Football inter-county championships until the conclusion of the 2032 season, extending one of the most significant and enduring partnerships in Irish women’s sport.
First established in 2001, TG4’s relationship with the LGFA has grown into a cornerstone of the women’s sporting landscape in Ireland. What began with 6 games shown in 2001 has developed into a comprehensive broadcast commitment across TG4, the TG4 Player, the TG4 App and Spórt TG4 YouTube.
In recent years, TG4 has committed to showing every Senior Championship game in the All-Ireland series, alongside live coverage of the Junior and Intermediate Finals on the biggest day in the LGFA calendar. This increase brought the total number of games shown on TG4 to 28 across the Championship in 2025 and 49 games in total including all LGFA competitions.
This visibility has played a major role in raising the profile of Ladies Gaelic Football, showcasing the skill, athleticism and dedication of players nationwide, and helping the game reach new audiences across Ireland and beyond. The growth of the Championships has also been reflected in record attendances, including the landmark crowd of 56,114 at the TG4 All-Ireland Finals in Croke Park in 2019.
Deirdre Ní Choistín, TG4 Ard-Stiúrthóir, said: “TG4 is delighted to announce a renewed sponsorship and broadcast commitment to the Ladies Gaelic Football Championships, extending our partnership with the LGFA through to 2032. Since 2001, TG4 and the LGFA have built a unique and enduring relationship, one that combines TG4’s role as Championship sponsor with our commitment to bringing the games to audiences free-to-air across television, online and mobile platforms.
“As TG4 celebrates 30 years on air in 2026, we are very proud that Ladies Gaelic Football has been such an important part of our story. Over the past 25 years, the TG4 All-Ireland Championships have grown enormously in profile, reach and ambition, and TG4’s coverage has helped bring the skill, passion and personalities of the players to homes and communities throughout Ireland and abroad.
“This renewed agreement is a strong statement of TG4’s continued belief in Ladies Gaelic Football, in women’s sport, and in the importance of making major Irish sporting occasions widely accessible. We look forward to working with the LGFA, county boards, clubs and players over the coming years as we continue to showcase Peil na mBan on TG4 platforms and support the continued growth of this outstanding sport.”
Trina Murray, LGFA President, said: “On behalf of the LGFA, I’m absolutely delighted to welcome the extension of our outstanding partnership with TG4 through to 2032. Since 2001, TG4 has played a transformative role in promoting Ladies Gaelic Football, bringing our games, players and communities into homes across Ireland and beyond. As we now celebrate 25 years together, it is important to recognise the enormous impact this partnership has had on the growth, visibility and professionalism of our sport at every level. TG4’s commitment has helped inspire generations of players and supporters, while showcasing the passion, skill and excitement that defines our sport. We are now looking forward to another brilliant TG4 All-Ireland Championship season and I would like to wish all participating counties, players and management teams the very best of luck as they compete for coveted final places at Croke Park on Sunday, August 2nd, in what promises to be unforgettable championship summer. Many thanks to CEO, Deirdre Ní Choistín, Head of Sport, Rónán Ó Coisdealbha, and the entire TG4 team for their continued investment in, and passionate support for, Ladies Gaelic Football.”

Group 3 contains Leinster and All-Ireland champions, Dublin, who will battle it out with Connacht runners-up Mayo and Donegal. And Group 4 features Connacht champions Galway, Ulster runners-up Tyrone and Meath.
The winners of each group will have home advantage at the quarter-final stage.
The 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Championships get underway next weekend with games in the Junior and Intermediate grades. 12 teams will compete for the Mary Quinn Memorial Cup, the prize on offer for the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate title, with the winners also gaining promotion to the Senior grade for the 2027 season. The 2025 final was won by Tyrone, who are a senior outfit this year, with Laois hoping to atone for their loss against the Red Hands last August.
Group 1 of the Intermediate Championship contains Ulster champions Cavan, Connacht runners-up Roscommon, and Down, with Leinster champions Westmeath, Ulster runners-up Monaghan and Louth in Group 2. Group 3 features Clare, Leinster runners-up Wexford and Laois, with Group 4 populated by Connacht champions Leitrim, Wicklow and Fermanagh.
The 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship will see nine teams taking part, as Antrim look to go one better after losing out in last year’s decider against Louth. Group A contains Kilkenny, Derry, Longford, Offaly and Antrim, with Carlow, London, Sligo and Limerick in Group B.
With the continued support of its sponsors and broadcast partners, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association continues to thrive and evolve. Membership and viewership continue to grow, new clubs are being formed to meet demand, and players at every level are inspiring the next generation.
TG4’s renewed commitment to the Championships until 2032 ensures that Ladies Gaelic Football will remain visible, accessible and free-to-air for supporters, families, clubs and communities across the country.
