On Saturday last, Glinsk ladies travelled to Ballyhaene GAA pitch to take part in the Junior Connacht 7s competition.  With the first game scheduled for 11am against Ballymote the girls had an early start and thankfully got off with a good win which gave each of the girls more hunger to come away from the competition as winners.

In the second group game they faced Annaghdown which proved to be a tough first half but in the end the girls came away with a 10 point win and then carried on to beat McCale Rovers, this meant Glinsk had one group game left against Charlestown which was a must win if the girls wanted to progress to the Connacht Final, the girls showed great determination and beat the Mayo side.

Glinsk then had to travel to Breaffy GAA Resort to take on fellow Galway team Menlough Skehana in the final, knowing this would prove to be a tough match the girls knew what had to be done, from the throw in both midfielders - Emma Curley and Lisa Ward showed great leadership.  At half time Glinsk were trailing by 3 points but kept the heads held high and with some good goalkeeping from Mary T Kelly and excellent defending Glinsk went into the lead and thankfully came out of such an exciting game, winning by one single point.

Excellent performances from each of the girls were shown throughout the day. Thanks to team manager, Shane Curley, to all the Glinsk Ladies Footballers involved and to all the supporters who had bonfires blazing for the homecoming.

Team: Mary T Kelly, Lorraine Curley, Brid Cuddy, Roisin O'Brien, Denise Ward, Emma Curley, Lisa Ward, Brigid Barlow, Lisa Nolan, Nicola Hughes, Laura Scanlon.

Congratulations also to Tuam Cortoon, Annaghdown, Claregalway and Corofin who also brought home silverware to Co.  Galway.
