Well done to Tracy O' Hara, Claire Colleran and the rest of the Sligo Ladies team and management who beat Leitrim in the Gillespie's Tubbercurry Connacht Intermediate Semi Final. The team will now play Roscommon in the final on Subday 8th July at 2.00pm at Elvery's McHale Park Castlebar.
Following their round 2 championship win over St. Johns, the senior men had a very busy week which saw them compete in both the Leo Kenny Connaught Cup and the Division 1 league. The team showed their strenght in getting 3 great results over 5 days. Having beaten
St.Johns by 3 points, the team went on to beat Shamerock Gaels on Tuesday last, in round 2 of the Leo Kenny Cup, on a score of 10 points to 1-14. The team played Eastern Harps in the quarter final of the
competition yesterday. On Friday last, the team took on Eastern Harps in round 9 of the Division 1 league knowing that a win would see them capture the title. The team gave a great performance and ran out winners of a scoreline of 16 points to 3. The team are now 6 points
clear of the top of the table with 2 games remaining, capturning the title. This adds to the Kiernan Cup title which was captured earlier on in the season. The team play Shamerock Gaels in round 10 of the league this Saturday at 7.30 in Tourlestrane and your support would be grately appreciated.
The Division 4 team had a great win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point on Saturday last in round 6 of the league in Oxfield. The final score was 4-5 to 5-6.
The U-16 boys team return to action this week when they play St. Michaels at 7.30 on Monday. This is an away game.
The U-12 boys team play Eastern Harps in round 5 on Tuesday night at 7.30 in Keash.
The Senior Hurlers were unlucky against Coolera/Strandhill in round 7 of the Dermot Molloy League when they lost out on a scoreline of 1-13 to 2-7.
Pride of the place goes to the U12 Community Girls team who won the County final on Tuesday last when they beat St. Farnans by a point. It was a great team performance with Leonie Gaughan and Katie Molloy playing outstanding. The team now go on to represent Sligo in the Connaught finals during the weekend of the 21st of July.
Hard luck to Barry Walsh, Cathal Henry and the rest of the Sligo Minor football team and management who bowed out of the Connaught Championship after a very brave second half performance. Having trailed by 1-4 to 1 point at half time, the final score was 1-6 to 6 points.
