ST. FARNAN'S LADIESÂ
Â
St. Farnan's will have double representation in the Connacht Finals of Scór Sinsir which are scheduled to take place in Carrick-on-Shannon on Sat. April 6th next as a result of double successes in the Co. Finals which were staged in St. Mary's GAA Clubhouse on Saturday night last.
Róisin Kilgannon took the honours in the Solo Singing category and she was also a member of the successful Instrumental Music group along with her sister Deirdre, Laura Flatley and Martin Mulligan. Deirdre and Martin and Sean Kilgannon represented the club in the Quiz but unfortunately did not progress to the next stage. While the competition experienced one of its weakest nights at this level in terms of club participation the quality of the acts performing was of the highest order making for an enjoyable evenings entertainment. This was further enhanced by the decision of a number of the participants to remain on for a "session" of music, song and story telling afterwards much to the delight of the audience, many of whom were local punters with little or no previous knowledge of Scór.
Thanks to the St. Mary's club for hosting the event and especially to Peter Farrell who made it all happen on the night, acting as M.C., Quiz Master, Sound Engineer and still finding time to represent his club in the Solo Singing.
Our U-16 team will be the first team from the club to taste league action this year when they entertain Curry in Templeboy this Wed. the 27th and they will be away to Owenmore Gaels a week later, April 3rd, in Round 2.
Two days later Fri. April 5th sees our U-12's in action with a home game against St. Nathy's whilst the U-14's will also have home advantage for their opening game on Fri. April 19th.Â
Our Intermediate team will renew acquaintances with old rivals St. Mary's in their opening game on Sunday week next, April 14th in what will be the sides first meeting since our historic victory over the town side in that epic Co. Jnr Final in Cloonacool last Sept.
Leah Kelly represented the club on the Sligo team which participated in the Connacht U-14 Girls Blitz at the weekend.
Thanks to those who represented the club in the Dromore West St. Patrick's Day Parade and to the young players who sold the ribbons on the day to raise much needed funds.
Congratulations to those from the area who were prize winners in the Community Games Art and Clay Modelling recently.
Sympathy is extended to the family of John McGowan, Dromore West who died recently. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.
