Kilglass Gaels opens New Pitch.
May 27, 2013
Championship pitch fever: It's always a big occasion when your most senior team in the club take the field for championship. But it's an even bigger occasion when it's your first game on your new pitch.
We opened our gates to both sets of supporters alike for the first game on our new pitch since winning the field of dreams competition. Allot of hard work and effort went on the last number of weeks to make sure that our lads would play a home championship game this year and it was great to see all the hard work paying off.
Back to the main talking point the game itself. Kilglass a team with alot of young talent were slow to start as the visitors St Ronan's dominated allot of the first half with our lads just slow to get out of the blocks. A goal close to half time from Tommy Cox gave us a two point lead to build on in the second half. But yet again it was the boys from Ballyforan who never gave up and with ten mins to go the game was all square. The game went down to the wire but then kilglass started to press the buttons and with captain Gavin Tully giving an exabition of free taking in the closing minutes the filled of dreams was opened to a Kilglass Gaels win. Well done to both team and management on a hard fought victory that we can no doubt build on for our next two championship games.
