The Roscommon Ladies Senior, Intermediate, Junior A and Junior B championships take centre stage next week-end.
Centre Point Autos Senior Championship
Round 1 of The Centre Point Auto's sponsored championship Senior Championship: St. Brigids, Strokestown, Kilglass Gaels, Castlerea, Oran and Clann NanGeal. (See fixtures list for times, dates & venues).
St. Brigids are heading for four county finals in a row and the Kiltoom based outfit look likely to succeed as they have aspirations of winning that elusive Connacht title that the yearn for. St. Brigids are a vastly experienced side and have won seven out of the last eight county titles.
Going on league performance the only team to stand in their way will be last year's county final runner-ups Strokestown who won all their games to make it to the league final against St, Brigids. This first round championship game scheduled for next Saturday in Dr. Hyde Park has been doubled up as the league final which should give it that extra bite.
Kilglass Gaels 2012 shield winners and were runners up in 2010 and 2011 will also have a big say but the loss of Louise Tully to emigration most certainly not help their cause. Castlerea with a number of experienced players will also be looking towards a place in the final.
Oran who brought Strokestown to extra time in last year's semi-final will also fancy their chances but like Kilglass the loss of Sinead Cooney to immigration will be immense. Last year's intermediate champions Clann Na nGeal will also be competitive but will most certainly be happy to retain their senior status.
