Intermediate football championship

SOH started their championship campaign on Saturday gone in Pairc Sean against Drumkeerin. The lads could not bring their fine league form of late into the championship opener and despite leading by 2 points at one stage they eventually finished the match level with a score of 8 -8. Hopefully over the coming weeks they can build on this result and lead on to a victory.

Leitrim Junior football championship

The SOH Junior team were in action on Sunday gone in the first round of the junior championship. SOH took on Cill Tiobraid and were beaten by a score of 3.14 to 1.10

LGFA Dawn Run

The LGFA dawn 10K run takes place on Saturday the 21st of June at 6am, registration will be on from 5am at St Marys in Carrick on Shannon. Registration costs €10 and forms can be received from Pamela Keegan.This is a very worthwhile cause and all support will be greatley appreciated.


ACL Division 4

Sean O’Heslin’s were well beaten by the Division 4 leaders Aughnasheelin on Sunday 8th June. The lads were beaten by a score of 2-19 to 2-5.

Comhghairdeas

Well done to the SOH U14 girls team who were in action on Friday gone in the Semi Final against Keeldra Gaels. The girls managed to claim victory and a place in the final after a close and well fought victory with both teams sharing 10 goals. SOH eventually ran out winners with a score of 5-7 to 5-5 and will now meet Allen Gaels in Aughnasheelin on the 17th at 1900 to as we go to press. Hopefully we will be able to report on another victory.

Wednesday 18th June 2104- U14 Hurling- Ballinamore Versus Carrick B 7.45pm in St Mary’s Carrick on Shannon

Thurday 19th June 2014 – U12 Championship – SOH versus Dromahair at 7.00pm in Ballinamore.

Saturday 21st June 2014 – Gallogly Catering Division 4 ACL SOH versus Glenfarne at 7.30 in Glenfarn.

Sunday 22nd June 2014 – Leitrim Senior hurling league- Ballinamore Versus Cluainin Iomaintin at 7.00pm in Ballinamore.

Massive well done to the Oughteragh Gaels team on winning the division 2 league final. The trophy was lifted by our joint captains Sarah Mcloughlin and Mary McNulty after they claimed a well deserved victory against St Francis.The ladies were in control from the start and went in at half time with a 2 point lead. The team continued their fine form addin g a goal 10 minutes into the second half and they never looked back finishing the match with a score of 1-20 to 2-10.

“It’s in your Blood” campaign- A thank you

Folks the Irish blood transfusion service would like us to pass on their thanks for the support they received at the recent blood drive in Ballinamore.There were upto thirty more donors than usual. So a massive well done to you all for supporting this excellent cause and hopefully you will be all out again at the next event.

Senior Leitrim Hurling

In the coming weeks, a number of fixtures in the Senior County Hurling League will take place with teams from Longford also taking part. I am asking all players who have any interest in hurling to try and make an effort to be available for these games. The dates for these games are the 2nd of June v Gortlettragh, 8th v Clonguish and 22nd v Manor.

Underage Hurling Training

Hurling training for U14, U12, U10 and U8 age groups will commence on Thursday at 7pm in SOH Park. Anyone with an interest in hurling can come in and learn the skills with coaches present to help out on 1 to 1 basis.

Under 8 & Under 10 Football Training

Under 8 training (boys & girls) is on Mondays at 630pm, Under 10 Boys takes places on Tuesdays at 7pm and Under 10 Girls is Saturday at 10am.

Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps

The following are the dates for this year’s cúl camps: June 30th – July 4th Ballinamore. Online booking has now commenced and we would encourage parents to use this format where possible. However, written application forms will be distributed to all schools and clubs next week. There will also be a 2 day hurling camp in Ballinamore on the 21st & 22nd July.

Female Fitness

Female Fitness Classes are on Mon & Thurs at 8pm in the community centre and in the GAA gym Wed at 6.30pm & 7.30pm, Tues & Thurs at 11am. This Thursday we are in the new hall beside the Sports Complex at 8pm again as there is a meeting in the Community Centre.

Interested in improving your health

If you are interested in improving you health and fitness levels in a social environment come along to Ballinamore GAA gym on Thursday morning at 10am for a social fitness session for over 60's or at 11am for a beginners fitness session to learn how to become fit and healthy in 2014.  For booking contact 0879390980

Men's Get Active Programme
