Drum/Cloonown are U-14 Community Games Champions

Congratulations to the Drum/Cloonown Community Games team, which includes many Clann na ngael members, who defeated Kiltoom/Cam to win the U-14 County Community Games title in Ballyleague last Sunday (21st June). The girls will now go to represent Roscommon in Connacht. Well done to all the girls, their management, and their parents!

Clann Inaugural Festival of Football a Huge Success

Clann's inaugural festival of football took place in ideal weather conditions in Johnstown on Friday (19th June). Over 200 pupils from fourth, fifth, and sixth classes from the five local national schools in the Clann area (Cloonakilla, Cornafulla, Summerhill, Cloonown, and Ardkeenan) attended the blitz together with some local pupils who attend Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí. The pupils who attended included players who are already members of the club and players yet to join Clann!

This event demonstrated the incredible level of volunteerism that exists within the club. About fifty volunteers, accompanied by the teachers from the schools, helped the kids have a great day. That speaks volumes for the character of the individual club members who volunteered their time on a working day. The club would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those who helped out with coaching teams, refereeing, skills tests monitoring, first aid, group photography and general supervision. Clann greatly appreciate the cooperation of all six schools and hope to make this an annual event. The club have received very positive feedback from the teachers and schools and are delighted that the kids enjoyed the day.

The presence of County stars Michael Finneran, Ultan Harney Orla O'Neill, Kayleigh Dunning, Ciara Quinn and Donie Shine certainly helped inspire the players to show off their skills.

Thanks are also due to Ciara Fallon (Cloonakilla NS teacher) and Michael Finneran (Summerhill NS teacher) for their valuable assistance in organising the blitz.

Summer Camp

The legendary Clann na nGael Summer Camp will be held from Monday 29th June to Friday 3rd July in Johnstown from 10am to 3pm. Boys and girls aged six to thirteen are welcome.

The cost for the camp is €50 for one child and €40 for second and subsequent children. Registration will take place from 9.30am on Monday 29th. All boys and girls will receive a training top. Great fun and plenty of football is guaranteed!
