Kilbride LGF News.
Sunday 22nd November will live long in the memory of Kilbride minor players and supporters after a wonderful minor Division 2 final was played out in Knockcroghery . Great credit must go to both Kilbride and St.Marys for serving up a memorable game of football. St.Marys were first out of the blocks going 1 -01 ahead. It took Kilbride 7 mins to get on the scoreboard with a point from Fiona Tully followed almost immediately with a goal form the same player.Further points from  Blaithin O Beirne , Caoimhe Neary and Casey Keane (2)  and a goal from Keane saw Kilbride go 3 ahead with 22 mins gone. But  two more  goals  and a point just before half time from St.Marys put them right back in contention leaving the half time score   Kilbride 2-05 St.Marys 3-03. The battle continued up and down the pitch and a  goal and a point  from Tully and another goal from  Keane just kept Kilbride ahead as Marys scored four further points.. Kilbride then hit a purple patch  with corner forward Ruth Walsh scoring two great goals which saw Kilbride edge 8 points ahead. But St.Marys  were not going to lie down and to their credit came right back into the game scoring the equalising point  in injury time. One final kickout from our super goalie Aine Griffin saw the ball being worked up the pitch eventually landing in the hands of Casey Keane. Keeping her composure Casey  scored what was to be the winning point from a difficult angle and referee Paul Fahy blew the final whistle on the resulting kickout much to the relief and joy of the large Kilbride support!.  This was a wonderful team effort with each and every  player contributing to the marvellous win.
There were great scenes of celebration and jubilation on the pitch. Co Board registrar Sandra Shanagher had the honour of presenting the cup to her clubs joint captains Katie M .Kelly and Aoife Tully.

The club thanks the management team of Michael Tully , Mike Clabby, Colm Tully, Máire Lohan and Eilish Fannon  for all their work with the girls over the last few months . Also a big thank you to all the supporters who travelled to cheer on the team.
